Launch of website for Interstate migrant enrolment
Workers are coming from various states of India in search of employment to Tamil Nadu. It is necessary to register the details of those who do so on the website. Companies that employ workers must register them.
The Tamil Nadu government has issued a notice following allegations that companies have not registered on the website of migrant workers. All employers who employ migrant workers under the Interstate Migrant Labor Act 1979 are required to register the full details of the migrant workers employed with the appropriate officer. The Government of Tamil Nadu has developed a dedicated website (labor.tn.gov.in/ism) for this purpose. All factories / building contractors / businesses are provided with separate login and password to facilitate registration of migrant workers on this website.
However, it is known that some employers do not register this correctly. Therefore, it is advisable to immediately post the full details of the migrant workers on the above website without any release. Failure to do so will result in legal action being taken against factories / building contractors / businesses.
